Its been a century since I posted my last coffee review, so I thought I should keep y’all up to speed as to what’s being sipped on these brisk mornings in my little Montreal loft. This week I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Brularie Aux Quatre Vents at the Marche Atwater. I purchased the Vent Fou, as was recommended by the barista and was blown away (pun intended,Franco readers).
Firstly, I’ve always maintained you can tell a lot about a coffee about the way it smells, and this coffee had me making a beeline across the busy market courtyard (a few people may have accidentally been elbowed..ahem) I later received many raised eyebrows on the metro as I was carrying the motherlode in my bag and the scent was just heavenly.
With a full body and a smooth finish, this roast boasts low acidity, and has some dark notes without being too overwhelming. The finish is clean without any noticeable aftertaste.
Unfortunately, their beans aren’t available online. So Montrealers.. time to take advantage of this gem! And for those of you planning a visit, chalk it up to another reason to visit the Atwater Market for more info check out our feature.

Italian espresso on a sunday morning
Hi all! This week features some architecture of Montreals lovely old port, a garden shot, as well as a throwback to Paris!
Wishing you a week filled with strong espresso’s and inspiration- in whatever corner of the world you are 🙂
Having trouble nailing the perfect espresso? A few tips, remember to keep your machine clean and water fresh, freeze your beans to keep the fresh taste, and freshly ground versus pre-ground makes the world of a difference.
We all have our small daily pleasures- that freshly pressed espresso, or that crisply folded crossword- everyone has little moments that carry them throughout the day.
It helps us find balance and with time creates a snapshot of our life at a certain time- think mental polaroid.
So this week I’m featuring a few favorite things (oooh groundbreaking stuff!)
But bear with me- my favorite things are simple pleasures and can be yours as well.
A few weeks ago I profiled a Toronto- based natural soap company Terrasoapco. I’ve been having a love affair with their Pink Himalayan Salt w French Pink Clay This stuff is magic guys- I’ve just given up on makeup this week because I don’t want to ruin that fresh faced feeling .

Favorite Food – My Mornings have been hectic as of late- and I haven’t found the time to eat breakfast- so after perusing through Pinterest I came upon the idea of a breakfast cookie (breakfast cookie? Sold.) I am notoriously bad at following receipts- I normally tend to just add ingredients and hope for the best..
The amount of energy they give is incredible- and are overall a healthy balanced breakfast.
Here we go:
2 cups of Oats
1 cup of peanut butter
½ cup of honey
¼ cup of raisins
¼ cup slivered almonds
¼ cup pecans
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp salt
3 tbs coconut oil heated up
Preheat Oven to 350 Mix ingredients together- add, subtract whatever you have that you think would work with the existing base pallet- just remember your peanut butter is acting as your binder-try to keep the consistency moist and sticky.
Bake for approx. 20 mins
Favorite feel- early morning espresso’s (of course!) Nothing better than a lazy sunday morning spent with a strong cup of joe.
